United Business Centres at Stansted Sponsors Kelly and her team
Kelly Blowes, Centre Manager at United Business Centres in Stansted entered a team into this years Race for Life in support of Cancer Research UK. Here is her account:
"Since Race for Life began in 1994, women across the country have raised over £100 million for Cancer Research UK and this year they have an ambitious fundraising target of £46 million. Cancer Research UK is the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research, with a team of over 3,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.
"My friend Emma asked me if I'd like to get into the spirit of Race for Life by running and forming a team with United Business Centres as the sponsers. My Nan died of cancer and my Godmother, Trish contracted breast cancer a few years ago. Their courage throughout their ordeal really spurred me on to train and take part.
"The Woodford Girls team was born and our race was in the City of London. Luckily for us the weather was fantastic which bought out crowds of well wishers. The inspirational messages on the runners backs and the support of our friends and family really motivated us.
"The feeling of achievement when I crossed the finish line was like nothing I have ever felt before. Don't get me wrong it was hard work but I managed to run all the way. I'm so glad I got involved, it was one of the most emotional but rewarding experiences of my life, and we raised over £1000.
