New business centre opens Calder Park development to SMEs

Small and medium-sized firms can now rub shoulders with larger businesses on the prestigious Calder Park development near Wakefield as United Business Centres (UBC) plc, one of the UK's fastest growing serviced office providers, opens for business at its newly created serviced office centre, UBC Wakefield in 1 Mariner Court. The new centre was set up recently following a joint venture with Cheshire-based Gladman Developments to create a number of serviced office centres across the UK, offering entry-level access to Gladman sites.

With over 10,000 sq foot of superbly finished, ready-to-use serviced office space, UBC anticipates strong demand from businesses of all shapes and sizes, from small start-ups looking for affordable, prestigious premises to larger companies looking to set up branch offices and project teams without committing to long-term leases for office space.

The centre provides a range of meeting room and hot-desking facilities, enabling occupiers to take advantage of extra space on an ad-hoc basis.  UBC Wakefield also offers virtual office support, providing telephone answering and mail forwarding services, enabling businesses to have professional business address and telephone handling without the need for actual office space.

UBC Area Manager Richard Johnson commented: "UBC clients sign a simple licence, similar to a car rental agreement, avoiding the need for complex leases and associated legal fees.  Our business centres are designed so that clients walk into a fully operational set up, complete with IT infrastructure, telephony, furniture, reception and much more.  The new centre in Wakefield provides premier office space on a prestigious business park development, fully equipped with the latest technology and equipment, providing a perfect office set-up for new and growing businesses."

UBC has already attracted its first client to the new business centre, financial services firm Alexander Forbes.  David Pye, regional director at Alexander Forbes added: "As a national financial services company, we have a firm commitment to the continued development of our offering and needed flexible and cost-effective office space in Yorkshire without compromising on quality. Our second base in the North of England, 1 Mariner Court is a perfect place to continue our expansion and we look forward to building further on our successes in the region."

Calder Park is one of the fastest growing business parks in the region and has attracted a number of high profile occupiers drawn by the transport links, environment and facilities on offer. Incorporating a 100 acre nature reserve, the park is adjacent to the M1 and is home to a wide range of businesses including Mercedes Benz, Balfour Beattie, Mitsubishi Electric and the Highways Agency.
